The Wrath Of The Empire - Legend Restored by Baren Volkum

And it came to pass, Deven had a family which he had given lightsabre Vexturim to his wife, Rebma, so that she could give it to their newborn son. He asked for her to remind their son to give the weapon to give it to the first born son or daughter, which by Ossusian law kept the family name. He also reminded her of the Omicron crystal, which he had hidden on purpose, so that one day, one with the same wisdom and faith as Omicron had once possessed, would find the crystal, and bring justice to the Ossusian citizens. Deven pleaded for forgiveness to banish himself from the planet for the good of the people. She never answered, and as he left the planet, he brought his head down in shame, and was timid the rest of his days. He never came back to Ossus again.

Many, many centuries prevailed afterwards. Many wars were fought, great crucades had been demolished. The Jedi became few, yet regained strength once again. The planet soon became part of the Republic as technology progressed, and many went out onto other planets to teach others of their powers, as well as the tales of Omicron. The ansestry of Deven was never withered from existence, yet the legend of the Omicron crystal was never persued. Until one man, by the name of Dameon, a second born with no hope of possessing Vexturim, sought to prove that his destiny would be fullfilled. He began to write of the legends of Omicron, Tileef, and Deven upon parchment, so that their story would never be deceased. He would visit Omicron often in his Cabonited grave, declaring that he would find the crystal and bring peace to Ossus once and for all. When he matured, he traveled far and wide to find the legend Deven once told of before he left. He never found it.

He soon began to age quickly because of his failure, and died pleading to find hope for his people. But the answer never came to his ears. Yet he began to forsee the future, that there would be a momment when a strong sandstorm whould sweep and destroy the planet as mentioned in Journal of the Whills. He pleaded for the Ossusians, especially the Jedi Knights, to be prepared and to tell others of this dark time. He became a diplomat, beginning to speak to the universe himself that one would come and intend to destroy the Republic, and destroy all they had inherited beforehand. He recieved little responce. Dameon later came back to Ossus to die, giving his oldest sister's first born son the parchment in which he had written the legends.

Again, generations passed, and only few remembered Dameon's words of caution. And then the sandstorm hit the universe. An Empire, strong with the Dark Side of the Force, began to conquest rule for their own pleasure and gain. Lead by Emperor Palpatine, he asked of his newly acquired servent, Lord Darth Vader, to destroy every single one of the Jedi Knights, and to crush all that related to their cause.

Soon afterwards, Palpatine placed his eyes upon the planet Ossus, for he felt that the planet was very strong in the Force, carrying so many Jedi and Force-attuned individuals. He declared for the Empire to strike the planet, and to convert it to a place of death and destruction, where no life would remain.

Ossus became terrified when they heared of the Emperor's plans. Dameon was right! Now they had to defend their lands and assemble quickly. In order to do so, they called for one who was very strong with the Good Side of the Force--Baren, who brought the Jedi together to fight for their lands, and to prove to the Empire that the Republic would never be disarrayed.

And the Empire swept upon the lands of Ossus like locusts, setting flame to the world and destroying its use of life. Almost all were killed, as Stormtroopers and Droids programmed to assassinate crept upon the planet to kill the entire race of Ossusians. Baren's group of Jedi struggled to fight back, but many were weak, for they didn'd carry the Faith as Omicron and Tileef had once carried amongst themselves. The did not carry the Omicron crystal, and began to carry doubt within themselves that they could claim their victory. They soon smelled the foul air of defeat...and died, one by one.

Soon, Baren was alone, the only Jedi individual which carried the Faith. One day, as he scavenged the desert which Omicron once settled to kill himself and found the power of the stone, he saw two men comming to confront him. It was Darth Vader, and behind him his accomplice...Boba Fett.

"You and your kind will soon perish," Vader harassed as he breathed in his mechanical suit. "Your light will go out in the universe, and Ossus will never be again inhabited by souls. You may be strong with the Force, as Yoda, Qui-Gon, Windu, and Obi-Wan possess, but like me before my darkness, you will perish and become no more."

Baren remainded patient and full of Faith in a Force that his ansestors had given him, not intimidated by the appearance or the breathing patterns of Vader. "Omicron is with me...and his Purest Faith with carry the glory of the Good Side. You will not win, even if I or they may all become spirit...for darkness kills itself off, and only good will remain to care for another. The Sith will only exist as a master....and a apprentice...and there will be one that will come between you and the Emperor, and destroy your evilness to bring order to the galaxy..."

"....I doubt that...." hissed Fett, as he positioned his rifle to Baren's form.

"Leave him alone," hinted the Sith as he pointed a finger to his helper. "I will deal with this one myself."

Fett began to bring down his weapon, slowly but steadily, watching Baren's every move. He eyed the Jedi through his T-shaped visor, knowing that Vader would destroy his existence within a matter of momments. All he had to do was watch. He didn't understand the words of this soul anyway, and at most didn't even care.

"....As you wissshhh..."

Baren took out his lightsabre Vexturim, and headed to meet the Dark One. "There will be balance. And you will soon perish. If not me, their will be another to bring your reign to be burried within the depths of the ocean...and you will all be lost. The good will escape from its cell...and carry on as the Republic..."

"You talk of such nonsense," replied the Dark Lord of the Sith. "The Emperor will be the master of the universe. The Sith will be plentiful...the goodness in light-hearted men will be deceased." He paused. "Do you really think you can win? Look at your home! You....as your people...will soon meet thy destiny!!!" With those words, he plunged his sabre at his foe.

They began to fight. As they thrusted and parried, they became a symbol, a symbol as Omicron was in his Carbonated grave. Evil and good must face each other and prove that they will bring conquest. Yet one must fall...and be lost for eternity.

And that is when Vader's sabre got hold of Baren's mortal body. He cut off his head, blood gushing out from the wound, and the corpse fell to the ground. Vader laughed at his kill...Fett nodded at his achievement.

The Jedi was now extinct from the planet. Conquest for them was still at hand.

"You are just a fool like the rest of them..." yelled out Vader as loud as he could underneath the machinery binded to his own body. "Your Faith in others is your weakness. The Emperor has foreseen this to be true. And now...your blood pours down upon this barren earth. You were what your name was...barren...weak to the touch, no strength inside you. Now, like you and your kind, others will fall...and the Republic will become no more...."

And they left the corpse to accomplish their own mission...to serve the Emperor. The restricted the planet, and made it that no lifeform must ever touch its land again. They would rule the universe, and Ossus would only exist as a tool, a tool to show that the Good Side of the Force will never remain in the souls of others...that their Imperial might will permenently endure...

As the Empire left the planet of Ossus, it never occured to Vader of the ones that were hidden within the planet. A small group of Deven's ansestry remained hidden underground, waiting for the momment they would provide the Purest Faith that Omicron obtained.

Days later, Baren's first born daughter, Marian, witnessed a ghostly figure which had come to visit her. It was the spirit of Baren. As he introduced his presence to her, he told her of a list of documents, which she found underneath his bed, covered in dust.

"You will have a child, and he will be our hope. Omicron will be with him, and his return will be great...your unborn will represent us, and help carry our enlightment among the universe..." And after saying those words, he disappeared and became one with the Force, never to return.

Marian then quickly placed her eyes among the pages of the parchment.

It was these words.

Note:

Baren reminds us that the Sith remain only as a master and apprentice, and that all else will be pawns in a game of no win. Being that he is my grandfather, I wonder how he must have looked when confronting Vader, knowing that he would die within a short time.

This text was written about fifty and sixty years ago--not during the time which he had fought for Ossus. This talked of certain moments of history, detailed about the Volkum family. This was a huge time span, since this was before and after the time of the destruction of the Jedi Library and holocrons in Ossus, between the time Exar Kun when he arrived, and the Jedi confrontation there. This is through Baren’s viewpoint.

He knew his fate when he was young boy, and wrote of the future so that we can read it today, embracing his legend. Yes, his words are powerful, but so is their true meaning. Remember the words that we say in The Jedi Creed, when we say that the future can bring us hope for the present, while the past provides us with tales to help us remain strong in our faith in the Force--that it exist in all--and that our generations sought to give us the knowledge and wisdom that we carry today so that we may all live a full and happy life. That is why I know The Jedi Creed will grow strong and prevail...and we will become plentiful.

Our ansestors all died for us to be here as we are now. Let us not waist their existance. Let us remain indebted to their price of stuggle.
