The Origin of Relan Volkum

The person behind Relan Volkum started out as a very shy, timid individual. For years he studied various works within libraries and schools. In early 1997, during the release of the Star Wars Special Edition and the beginnings of StarWars.com, he saw the potential of the Internet. He stumbled upon a letter from Lucas on SW.com when accessing the web for the first time...and was fascinated with the idea of speaking out without having to heavily deal with his introvert tendencies. It wasn't until 1998 (when he was able to get a Internet-ready computer in his home) that he made his presence known on the Internet.

He starting out his first few months under the alias Bossk. His goal: finding a way to express his thoughts by using Star Wars, especially Jedi, as a metaphor. Being that he couldn't find any websites admiring a similar interest, he fabricated a website called "Star Wars: The Legend of Jedi." SW: TLOJ focused on designing an actual, realistic training session, using Jedi concepts to explain itself. This creation also brought forth a change in name; from Bossk to Omicron. And it was the name Omicron which started his quest for Jedihood.

For about a year, Omicron began to gather realistic knowledge about the Jedi in Star Wars. This task though brought about many problems...and failures. The secludedness his journey demanded kept him from joining other affiliations. And he began to see many immaturies he knew he needed to resolve. Because of this, he started again from scratch, unlearning what he had learned.

After this task was completed, he came upon a series of letters he thought up one day, not knowing what it meant. The letters spelled Relan. Volkum was added later under similar circumstances.

A short time after this new name was created, Relan Volkum accidentally stumbled upon a place called "The Jedi Council," hosted by two people he had never heard of. He saw problems with the website (just as he had with the others). What kept his fixation towards the website was its spiritual depth, its aura. Relan could not ignore it ... and decided to mail Streen on April 8th, 1999.

"The force is already in you," the letter said, "so there is no need to say that it is. It exist in us all ... be prepared of the prophesies unfolding to you now."

After a couple of mailings back and forth, Streen became interested in Relan and asked Mitth'raw'nurida if he could join the Council. The agreement was made.

"I feel a force so strong within me I know could not make a wrong choice. If I do indeed want to join your clan, and become part of the group, where my individuality will provide us wisdom, strength, and knowledge ... that power will be something never before described ... stretch out with your feelings the Force is so earnestly wanting you to understand for the first time in your life. Feel it, and remember this ... metal will grind metal. Jedi will mend Jedi. Wisdom will bring more wisdom. Faith will bring more faith. We will be one with the Force. I will become part of The Jedi Council."

And so the triumvirate was formed.
