The Media Incident
Just as the Foreword of this series implies, it can take literally hundreds of events to make a situation occur. None of the Jedi Creed members knew what the next situation would bring them.
It was on March 6th, 2001, when an unusual article titled "The gospel according to Luke (Skywalker)" was published on the BBC website. It commented on Star Wars fanaticisms, a hoax E-mail inspiring 8,000 New Zealanders to declare Jedi as a faith on their census forms, and the Jedi Creed website - all of which had very little to do with each other. Never-the-less, it didn't take long for media influences to pounce the Creed members for quotes and interviews.
The core members agreed to one thing on this matter - do whatever was possible to keep their mouths shut. Still, they had separate views of the incident itself. Streen and Tionne were excited about the attention, while Mitth'raw'nurida and Relan Volkum were literally disgusted by it. E-mails were deleted and precautions were taken to make sure the hype died down as soon as possible. It worked.
The incident though had a lasting effect on the website. Because the members attempted to get away from all of the attention, the Jedi Creed was never updated again, the discussion forum was ignored, and its domain name was eventually sold to the highest bidder. Mitth, Streen, and Relan also agreed to separate and go their own paths.
It was a sad ending, but a meaningful lesson - especially for Relan. He made sure he only brought as much attention on himself as he needed, and as with Cloud City in Star Wars, made sure his new projects were out of the public spotlight.
