Students wishing to apply for Traditional mentoring are first required to fill in a Student Application form and complete a minimum of Academy or Solo training prior to acceptance as a potential Traditional Student. If you meet these requirements, please fill in the form below and email to jax@thejedi.org

Traditional Student Application Form

Please answer all of these questions as thoroughly as possible. You will be judged on the quality, not just the content, of your responses. Your application form will also tend to be the first information a mentor sees on you. Represent yourself honestly.

Personal Information

This information is preferred. However, if you are under the age of 18, we do not want you sharing identifying personal information. Therefore, those under the age of 18 should not share their location or full real name. You may give your first name, but not more than that. This is for your safety, and due to legal concerns. If you are legally an adult, please share what you’re comfortable with.

1. What is your EZboard User Name? Online name? Real name?

2. What is your age? Date of birth?

3. What is your primary E-mail address? Secondary E-mail address (if applicable)?

4. What are your Instant Messenger Handles? (include MSN, AIM, Yahoo!, ICQ, or any other IM's)

5. Where do you live?

6. Do you have control over your internet usage, or does a parent/guardian?

7. What is your current education level?

Prior Training

1. How long have you been training as a Jedi?

2. How have you trained? Did you take classes at an online academy, learn under a mentor, read books, etc?

3. What other classes have you taken offline? For instance, martial arts, yoga, qigong, meditation, or anything else you believe is relevant to your path.

Current Training Goals

1. Why do you want to train as a Jedi?

2. Approximately what level of knowledge would you say you have? For instance, are you a beginning student, or an advanced student who’s taken courses but has yet to be considered a knight?

3. What are your training goals, at this point in time? For example, share your training focus, or a flaw you want to improve upon.

The Mentoring Experience

1. What is your understanding of the Traditional Method?

2. Describe your ideal mentor. This person may not exist, but go for it anyway.

3. Do you currently have a mentor?

4. How much time can you realistically spend on training? Please be honest. If you only have a few hours throughout the week to talk with a mentor, that is ok. This is just to get a rough idea of your schedule.

5. How long do you see this relationship lasting? Would you like short term guidance, say a few months, or long term, of a few years?

6. Would you feel comfortable working with other apprentices? If not, do you mind if your mentor has other apprentices, as long as they spend one on one time with you? Or would you prefer a strict one on one relationship?

7. Is there anything else you’d like to share?

Additional Requirements

Due to legal and safety concerns, the Academ has set guidelines for underage students that must be followed. First, as a traditional student there is a minimum age of 14. If you are 14 or 15 we require parental notification of your training. If you’re concerned about talking to them, please tell us. We will do our best to find a way that informs your parent(s) without them having a negative reaction. However, they are the parent(s), and legally responsible for keeping their children safe.

If you are 16 or 17, we would prefer that you discuss your training with your parent(s). However, if you feel it is unwise to discuss the Jedi path with your parent(s), we require the notification of a trusted adult friend. We would prefer this person be over the age of 21. However, we would like to discuss your situation with you, so we know what’s going on also.

The reason we do this is two-fold. First, it’s to protect you. We do our best to screen mentors, but there is only so much we can do. In the event that someone is being inappropriate, or teaching you something that is unsafe, you need to have someone in your life who is aware of the situation. In addition, it protects us.

If you feel parental notification is impossible, then it would probably be best for you to train in the solo or academy method until you turn 18. Thank you for your understanding.
